Let us have a detailed look of such treatments the medical field provides to overcome problems pertaining to infertility.

Many people suffer from infertility despite having a free satisfying sexual life for more than a year. When they decide to go for fertility treatments, advanced levels treatments like in vitro fertilization come to their minds first. Depending on the severity of the issue, the treatment can be anything ranging from minor surgeries and basic fertility drugs.

Fertility Drugs

One of the main reasons why men and women suffer due to infertility is the hormonal imbalances caused in their body. Fertility drugs can help in balancing the irregularity of hormones and such drugs can be consumed alongside with other major treatments also.

Intrauterine insemination

This is a treatment which is offered to men when their sperm is unable to connect to the woman’s egg. Intrauterine insemination is the insertion of man’s sperm directly into a woman’s uterus to increase the chances of the woman getting pregnant. This treatment is a separate process by itself and does not require to be supported by any type of fertility drugs.

Infertility Surgeries

Laparoscopic surgery can be performed on men and women who have medical issues like Fibroids, Fallopian tubes that are blocked, issues pertaining to the reproductive organ that are more related to the anatomy of the body, cysts in the ovary and Endometriosis. This surgery helps doctors and the couples to find the exact problem related to infertility or straight away clear the infertility issue. Infertility surgery is recommended only for those couples who do not get over their infertility issue with other simple methods of treatments.

Assisted Reproductive Technology

Assisted Reproductive technology is resorted to when the problem falls under one of the following categories:

  • Fallopian tubes that are completely blocked
  • Low sperm count in men
  • Medical condition which does not allow the sperm to connect with the egg
  • Basic treatments for fertility have not yielded result
  • Assisted Reproductive technology is basically a high tech process where the sperm of the man and the egg of the woman are made to fuse with each other outside the body. To a great extent, Invitro Fertilization falls under the Assisted Reproductive Technology category. Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is a specialized technique used in Invitro Fertilization procedures.

Sometimes when the women’s egg is not fertile enough to merge with a man’s sperm to create a baby, fertile eggs can be obtained from another woman who is willing to become an Egg Donor. This egg is then made to join with the man’s sperm and a baby is created. Another option available for women who are diagnosed of a weak uterus to carry a baby is to opt for a woman who is willing to carry the baby during the complete pregnancy term in her uterus and hand over the baby after it is born. This method is called surrogacy and the woman who carries the fetus on behalf of the other woman is called a Surrogate. Surrogates are referred to as Gestational Carriers. Ensure all conditions pertaining to surrogacy are followed implicitly as per Government’s rules pertaining to the same.
